June 26, 2023
AUSTRALIAN OWNED

A Sydney-based, Australian-owned manufacturing company supporting the renewable energy transition.

Loross Rolled Threads designs and manufactures preassembled anchor cages in its Western Sydney factory, then delivers and installs them on site.

We are national leaders in this space, having supplied more than 1,300 to wind farm developments in Australia, with a further 350 in the pipeline.

Loross Rolled Threads has a mission to support local manufacturers and jobs while reducing environmental impacts. For 50 years we have been providing bolt solutions across OEMs, construction, mining, energy and infrastructure.

Preassembled and with fast delivery from local facilities, Loross Rolled Threads anchor cages are cheaper to fabricate and quicker to install. Compared to the imported alternative, installing our anchor cages results in a saving of 1-2 days per cage.

Highlighted project examples:

  • Loross Rolled Threads supplied 75 anchor cages, resulting in a $380,000 saving (around 8% of total cage costs, including installation and labour), and a 75-day time saving.
  • Loross Rolled Threads is supplying 93 anchor cages. Cost savings are expected to be $700,000 and time savings 93 days compared to imported alternatives.

Commercial, environmental and procurement benefits over imported alternatives:

The Outcome

Loross Rolled Threads can supply locally-manufactured turbine anchor cages that are cheaper, safer, better quality and more reliable than imported solutions.

  • Non bio-degradable foam ingots were not used and thus did not have to go into land fill
  • Grout pocket forming rings were recycled back to BlueScope at the end of the installation project
  • Anchor cage supply chain was 97% supplied and manufactured from raw materials here in Australia
  • During anchor cage installation, there were zero injuries and zero safety incidents for all 38 tower anchors installed
  • Time to install anchor was 90 minutes using two site personnel plus crane, compared to conventional method which takes two days with six site personnel
  • Even though the project started two weeks late due to circumstance out of our control, the anchor cage installation was still completed two weeks ahead of the original schedule date
  • Total cost to buy and install anchor cages using Loross Rolled Threads Australian made anchors site labour, was cheaper than imported anchor cages including site labour costs
